Water is Life

WORLD WATER WEEK EVENTS

AguaVida, a coalition of 13 non-governmental organizations working in the arenas of environmental
and social health, works on behalf of San Miguel residents to guarantee a safe, sustainable and
equitable water supply to maintain life in San Miguel de Allende today and in the future.

In recognition of World Water Day, AguaVida members have developed a week-long series of

Diana Hoogesteger, who works with Vía Orgánica, will lead a talk on an emerging farming practice known as regenerative agriculture, which replaces pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, with a diversity of crops and beneficial insects to restore soil capacity and contribute to resilient local and regional food systems, and creating conditions that help fight climate change.  10 am – 11:30 am

Leticia Merino Pérez, coordinator of the publication “Environmental Crisis in Mexico: Route for Change”, will discuss the Citizen Initiative, which was presented to Congress on February 4, and seeks to reverse Mexico’s serious water crisis and guarantee priority distribution of water to the entire population, before making it available for industrial agriculture, manufacturing or luxury uses.  11:45 am – 1 pm
