  • Most paddles start at 8:30 am but may vary slightly due to seasonal changes.
  • Weather is usually great, but wind or storms can change plans – check your email for last minute updates.
  • Morning temperatures in winter can be cool; dress in layers.
  • San Miguel can get hot most of the year – wear light, breathable clothing.

What to wear:

  • Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes.
  • Shoes can get wet or muddy – water shoes are the best, but not mandatory.
  • A hat and sunscreen (yes, even in cloudy days).

What to bring:

  • Drinking water and snacks (or lunch for longer paddles).
  • A waterproof bag for valuables (recommended).

Equipment & Launching:

  • Kayaks, paddles and life jackets are provided and must be with you at all times.
  • Depending on the season, the walk from the boathouse to launch may vary. Be ready to carry kayaks in pairs. Everyone is expected to assist in loading and unloading the kayaks.
  • All kayaks are stable and beginner-friendly; a few advanced models may be available for experienced paddlers.

  • First time? No problem! We offer basic instruction before heading out.
  • Guides will also give tips to improve your technique along the way.
  • Kayaking safe if we follow the instructions – life jackets are required but if you’re a good swimmer it is not mandatory that you wear it. But it must be on the kayak.

Getting to the Boathouse from Downtown San Miguel de Allende:

  1. Start at the Jardin: begin your trip form the Jardín Principal of the Parroquia – the heart of San Miguel.
  2. Head towards the Presa: Make your way west-southwest, taking main roads like Calzada de la Presa or Salida Real a Querétaro.
  3. Quick trip: The boathouse at Presa Ignacio Allende is only a few kilometers from the center — about a 10–20 minute drive, depending on where you start.
  4. Follow your GPS or map: Just type “Presa Ignacio Allende” into Google Maps and follow the directions. If you’re on foot or using public transport, follow local signs or ask for “la presa” — everyone will know where you mean.
  5. Need help finding us?
Any taxi driver will get you there, no problem.

Directions to the boat house: we are right across from the dressage ring.
